# Usage and billing

> Manage your plan, purchase credits, and save payment methods.

Open **Settings → Billing** to view your current plan, included model usage,
and purchased credit balance. **View plans** opens the plan chooser, where your
current plan is marked active.

Opening a session that previously ran out of access does not reopen a paywall.
Send a new message to check access against your current plan. Automatic upgrade
prompts verify the workspace's current plan and stay closed for paid workspaces;
**View plans** remains available in Billing.

## Pro+ free trial

Eligible new subscribers can start Pro+ for **$0 for seven days**, with a card
required upfront. The monthly subscription renews at **$60/month** after the
trial unless cancelled before it ends. A workspace can redeem one trial;
previous trial redemptions cannot be reused. Annual subscriptions and existing
paid subscriptions keep their normal pricing. The trial includes the Pro+
model allowance; automatic top-up remains off during the trial.

The plan chooser uses separate Monthly and Annually buttons and closes with ×
in the screen's top-right corner.

## Buy credits

Choose **Buy credits** in Billing or **Add credits** in the sidebar. Select a
preset amount or enter a whole dollar amount of at least \$20. Credits are a
dollar balance for model usage; Reason models do not receive a separate usage
multiplier. Purchased credits are available alongside your included plan usage.

While subscription checkout opens, a centered “Upgrading your plan” status appears. The shimmer respects reduced-motion settings.

Checkout displays the amount due before payment. Eligible saved cards, Link,
and express wallets appear through Stripe. Availability depends on your browser,
device, and saved payment information. New cards use Stripe’s country and postal-code
collection without a separate name or street-address form. Changing the credit
amount updates the total without clearing your payment fields.

## Automatic top-up

Eligible paid subscriptions can turn on **Automatic top-up** to buy credits when
the available balance reaches \$5. Use **Configure** to set the purchase amount and
spending cap. Enabling automatic top-up during a credit purchase preserves your
existing spending cap. You can turn it off in Billing at any time.

Automatic top-up is separate from buying credits once. A declined purchase does
not add credits; update your payment method before retrying.

Automatic top-ups trigger when the workspace's available balance reaches $5,
so a successful reload can replenish credits before running sessions exhaust
it. Automatic reloads cost 10% less: $100 in credits charges \$90. One-time credit
purchases retain their displayed price. The monthly auto-reload cap counts the
amount charged, and credits are shared by workspace members. Failed payments
or a reached spending cap can still prevent a reload.

The \$0 Pro+ trial appears first on mobile for eligible new subscribers. Checkout supports Apple Pay on compatible devices and browsers, alongside card entry. Mobile checkout also shows Link as an express payment option when available. Wallet availability depends on Stripe and the device.

## Payment methods

The **Payment methods** section lets you add multiple cards, select the default,
and remove an unused card. Stripe securely collects and stores payment details.
Use **Manage subscription** for subscription cancellation and other available
Stripe billing actions.

Billing cards, payment methods, and usage history follow the unified single-container layout.

## Starting work

An active paid plan or valid trial is required to send task messages, including the first message. If your workspace has no eligible plan, sending opens the plan selector and preserves your draft. Pro+ is highlighted as the most popular plan; the selected billing cycle has a subtle highlight.

## Usage history

**Settings → History → Model usage** shows the recorded model ID and token count.
**Included** means the plan allowance funded the usage. **Credits** means it used
purchased credits; manual purchases and automatic top-ups replenish the same
balance. **Included + credits** means usage drew from both. Older records that
did not preserve their funding source show **Unavailable** instead of inferring
it from your current plan.

## Billing emails

Plan activation, cancellation, payment updates, and trial reminders use the
Reason brand. Older plan names beginning with Ara appear as Reason Machines
in these emails; your plan and billing account stay the same.

## Public pricing preview

The public `/pricing` page uses the same plan chooser as the app, with monthly
and annual billing. Eligible accounts can start a seven-day Pro+ trial at $0,
then $60 per month. Trial eligibility is confirmed after sign-in. Choosing a
plan on the public page takes you through sign-in before checkout.
