# Workspaces and sharing

> What a Workspace owns and shares: Reasons, Sessions, secrets, connectors, skills, memory, model accounts and computers. Roles, and when to use a Workspace of your own.

A Workspace is a company in Reason. It owns its setup, and everyone in it works with the same setup. Your account can belong to several Workspaces; switch between them in the sidebar's workspace switcher.

## What the Workspace shares

| Resource | Who gets it |
| - | - |
| Secrets and website logins ([Vault](https://ara-90a60a07.mintlify.site/docs/vault.md)) | Every Reason and Session in the Workspace |
| Connectors (MCP servers and apps) | Everyone. A connector acts with the account of the person who connected it, in every teammate's Sessions |
| Skills and memory | Everyone's Reasons read and use them |
| Model accounts (ChatGPT, Claude, API keys) | Everyone can run on them. See [Provider accounts](https://ara-90a60a07.mintlify.site/docs/provider-accounts.md) |
| Computers | Shared with the Workspace by default; the owner can limit them ([below](#computers)) |
| Credits | One shared balance. Each person has a seat whose credits go into it ([Plans](https://ara-90a60a07.mintlify.site/docs/plans.md)) |

Nothing here is per person: there are no personal secrets, connectors or skills inside a shared Workspace.

## Reasons and Sessions

* In a Workspace with two or more people, a new Reason starts shared with everyone. In a Workspace of one it starts private.
* Your main Reason stays personal. To share work from it, use **Share** on a Session, which makes a new shared Reason.
* Sharing has two levels: **collaborator** uses the Reason, **manager** also changes its setup and who has access. Only the Reason's owner deletes it.
* Everyone a Reason is shared with can read and continue its Sessions, Loops and Library. Each person's own chat with a team Reason stays theirs.
* Sessions of your main Reason are yours alone, workspace owners and admins included.

## Roles

| Role | Can |
| - | - |
| Owner | Everything, including deleting the Workspace and making someone an owner |
| Admin | Manage money, members, Workspace settings, secrets and logins, Slack, custom MCP servers, and every model account |
| Member | Do the work: run Reasons, add curated connectors, edit team memory, connect their own model accounts and computers |

Members manage the model accounts and automations they created; owners and admins manage all of them.

## Computers

Reason runs Sessions on its cloud computers or on your own.

* **Add your computer:** **Settings > Cloud and local > Add computer**, then paste the command it shows into a terminal on that computer. The code works once and expires in 10 minutes. In a script, use `reason connect --api-key KEY`.
* A new computer is shared with the Workspace and ready for local Sessions.
* **Direct device access** on each computer's row turns Reason's use of it on or off. Off stops its work in this Workspace; agent messaging stays connected. Only the computer's owner can change it, and choose whether **only you** or the **Workspace** can use it.
* Cloud computers are managed by Reason and update themselves. See [Run on computers](https://ara-90a60a07.mintlify.site/docs/build/computers.md).

## Want a personal setup?

Use a Workspace of your own. Everything in a shared Workspace is shared, so keep personal secrets, accounts and computers in a separate Workspace: choose **New workspace** in the account menu (**New company** in the workspace switcher). You can belong to both and switch at any time.
